Uncertain nonlinear system modelling and identificationis mainly concerned with characterising an unknown nonlinear system usingmeasured input-output data in an uncertain environment. It is of fundamentalimportance in predictive control, fault diagnosis, signal processing anddecision analysis, since most real-life systems are nonlinear, and are oftenassociated with uncertainties due to noises, unpredictable disturbance andmeasurement errors, uncertain physical parameters, incomplete knowledge andetc. The BRB methodology is developed on the basis of the Dempster-Shafertheory of evidence, traditional IF-THEN rule-based systems and relevantartificial intelligence (AI) techniques. It has an inherent capability of dealingwith various types of uncertainty, and has been applied to a wide range offields in recent years.
In this talk, I will first briefly introduce the BRBmethodology and its inference mechanisms and properties, including evidentialreasoning, multi-model decomposition and distributed approximation. I will thenpresent a set of different BRB identification models through combining the BRBmethodology with nonlinear optimisation techniques. Examples and real-worldapplications are discussed to illustrate the capability and effectiveness ofthe BRB identification models for uncertain nonlinear system modelling andidentification.

陈玉旺(Yu-WangChen)博士,于2008年在上海交通大学自动化系控制科学与工程专业获工学博士学位,现为英国曼彻斯特大学决策科学讲师(Lecturer in Decision Sciences)。此前2008年至2011年分别在香港浸会大学计算机系和英国曼彻斯特大学决策与认知科学研究中心开展博士后研究。2010年4月在欧洲科技合作计划(EuropeanCOST)资助下任西班牙Malaga大学VisitingScholar。其主要研究领域为多目标决策分析、最优化方法、风险分析和供应链管理等。近年来作为项目负责人或主要完成人承担完成EPSRC, ERC, NSFC, Unilever等资助的多项科研项目。并在EJOR,C&OR, IEEE T-SMC, IS等期刊上发表了一系列学术论文。分别担任国际期刊AssociateEditor of Web Intelligence and Agent Systems和EditorialBoard Member of International Journal of Productivity and PerformanceManagement。
